Welcome to Arizona’s Painted Desert. This beautiful piece of the American Southwest, just off Route 66, features excellent panoramic views and an abundance of privacy. To say this area is quiet is an understatement. Aside from the occasional light breeze, it’s absolute and utter silence. If you like to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine in quiet privacy, this area can’t be beat. Use the property for occasional camping or make long-term plans to build a home. This parcel is a great low-cost option to get started! With few restrictions and no timeline to build, you have the freedom to use the land on your terms.
The lot is located 15 minutes off exit 294 on Route 66. The main gravel road into the subdivision is on the east side near the canyon. Numerous dirt roads split off this main arterial and fan out into the area to reach the private properties. Power is near the freeway exit, but hasnโt been extended out to these rural parcels yet. Solar power is a great option since there is no shortage of sunny days. Wind power could be viable as well. This property also sits about 400 yards from some interesting and colorful terrain to the east, featuring a winding riverbed.
Downtown Holbrook AZ, just 13 miles away, is a town of about 5000 people, rich with history. The Holbrook area was inhabited first by the Anasazi, then Puebloans, then the Navajo and Apache. In 1540, Coronado searched for the Seven Cities of Cibola and camped some sixty miles east of Holbrook. Coronado sent an expedition west to find the Colorado River, and they crossed the Little Colorado about twenty-five miles east of Holbrook and found a wonderland of colors they named “El Desierto Pintada” – The Painted Desert.
The Petrified Forest National Park is just east of this parcel and features some excellent hiking. There are numerous popular trails including the Blue Mesa Trail, Painted Desert Rim Trail, Devilโs Playground Loop, and many others. If youโd like to drive a little further, the Grand Canyon is only 3 hours to the northwest, the iconic Oljato-Monument Valley is about 3 hours north, and the Homolovi Ruins are just an hour west.
