Welcome to Arizona’s Painted Desert. This beautiful piece of the American Southwest, just off Route 66, features excellent panoramic views and an abundance of privacy. To say this area is quiet is an understatement. Aside from the occasional light breeze, it’s absolute and utter silence. If you like to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine in quiet privacy, this area can’t be beat. Use the property for occasional camping or make long-term plans to build a home. This parcel is a great low-cost option to get started! With few restrictions and no timeline to build, you have the freedom to use the land on your terms.
This square 2.5-acre lot sits far enough from the highway to be private, but still within a reasonable distance for regular trips to the Starbucks at the exit or other stops in nearby Holbrook. Out here you’ll enjoy peace and quiet while watching antelope, rabbits, and other critters in their natural environment. This property is great for camping and recreation, but can also be the site of a future home. There’s no utilities at the property, but wells are allowed and Solar is great for electricity.
Downtown Holbrook AZ, just 14 miles away, is a town of about 5000 people, rich with history. The Holbrook area was inhabited first by the Anasazi, then Puebloans, then the Navajo and Apache. In 1540, Coronado searched for the Seven Cities of Cibola and camped some sixty miles east of Holbrook. Coronado sent an expedition west to find the Colorado River, and they crossed the Little Colorado about twenty-five miles east of Holbrook and found a wonderland of colors they named “El Desierto Pintada” – The Painted Desert.
The Petrified Forest National Park is just east of this parcel and features some excellent hiking. There are numerous popular trails including the Blue Mesa Trail, Painted Desert Rim Trail, Devilโs Playground Loop, and many others. If youโd like to drive a little further, the Grand Canyon is only 3 hours to the northwest, the iconic Oljato-Monument Valley is about 3 hours north, and the Homolovi Ruins are just an hour west.
